Our Story
Before I founded OROOT, I was a marketing manager for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Korea. Due to the nature of my job, I used styling products every day and was interested in grooming. My work got busier and busier, and as my responsibilities increased, my stress also increased. Then, at some point, my body started sending me signals. I started having skin problems, and my scalp started getting pimples and itchy. I tried changing my usual skin care products and trying different shampoos, but nothing got better.
To make matters worse, I noticed the early signs of a receding hairline.
At my wife’s suggestion, I visited a dermatologist. What caught me off guard was a simple question from the doctor:
"What kind of styling products do you use?"
I had never given it much thought. Like many men, I had been using waxes and pomades for years. But the doctor explained that harsh chemicals and volatile compounds in these products could remain on the scalp even after washing, leading to irritation, clogged follicles, and even hair loss.
That was my wake-up call. I immediately researched the ingredients in my styling products and, without hesitation, threw them all away. From that point on, I switched to plant-based hair care products—and slowly, my scalp and skin started to recover. That experience led me to a realization:
"Why are there so many premium skincare products for men, yet styling products remain unchanged?"
The products I used as a teenager may have worked back then, but now?

That’s why I created Oroot.
